Tim Mcgraw - Tim Mcgraw Hit With Copyright Lawsuit
Country star Tim Mcgraw has been hit with a copyright lawsuit from bosses at his former record label.
The Live Like You Were Dying hitmaker was caught up in a legal wrangle with chiefs at Curb Records in 2011 over allegations he reneged on his contract and failed to make a fifth and final project with the company.
MCGraw subsequently signed with Big MAChine and won a court battle to release music through his new label last September (12), but now Curb executives have filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the singer, claiming his current album, Two Lanes of Freedom, which hit U.S. stores in February (13), was recorded before their contract was dissolved.
According to papers filed at the U.S. District Court in Tennessee on Monday (29Apr13), Curb bosses allege they own the rights to the album's songs and are entitled to damages for lost profit and diminution in the value of their property, reports The Tennessean.
