Thomas Dolby - Thomas Dolby Wins Film Prize For Lighthouse Documentary
20 February 2013Synth-pop pioneer Thomas Dolby's filmmaking career has been given a big boost - the She Blinded Me With Science hitmaker has been awarded two top honours from the organisers of the Los Angeles DIY Film Festival.
The singer/songwriter will receive the festival's Best Director and Best Documentary Short prizes for his film The Invisible Lighthouse next month (08Mar13).
Dolby will also perform the score to the film, about a doomed lighthouse near his home in Suffolk, England, while it is screened at the award ceremony in Hollywood.
He was refused access to the island, on which the lighthouse stands, due to the fact it is littered with unexploded bombs so daring Dolby staged a series of top secret raids to get up close to the building.
