Evan Goldberg - 'This Is The End': Seth Rogen Comedy Where Stars Party Like There's No Tomorrow
Described by critics as a "balls-out" and "unapologetic", This Is The End is a new Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen directed apocalyptic comedy.
Unusually, all the actors in the film play themselves at a wild party at James Franco's house that gets crazier when the world begins to end in a melange of earthquakes, demonic possession, cannibals and flames. The stars party like it's their last night on Earth -and it may well be.
With a superstar comedic cast including Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Mindy Kaling, James Baruchel and James Franco, the film's set to be giggle-inducingly crude as the post-apocalyptic survivors attempt exorcisms and try to convince heaven they should be saved in the Rapture.
Slashfilm praises the film's wacky premise alongside a wealth of Hollywood insider jokes in a movie that has very sweet center aside from its scares and violence: "You'll be hard-pressed to find a better comedy this summer."
After being widely released in the Us today, the goofy horror comedy sits at a plump rating of 81% on Rotten Tomatoes with LA Times' Betsy Sharkey admiring its constant lampooning of celebrity culture whilst managing to carry a palpable plotline: "When the apocalyptic comedy gets deadly serious about roasting the ethos of celebrity, its satire grows white-hot."
The musical score is referred to as "ominous yet cheeky", if there ever was such a thing.
Engaging relentless jokes, jaw-droppingly crazy gags, and the consensus is that "stupidly hysterical and smartly heretical" This Is The End is surprisingly good.
The film is released in the Us today (12th June) but Uk fans will have to until 28th June before they can head to cinemas.
