The Xx - The Xx Confirm UK Shows, No Longer Feel "Cripplingly Shy"
Former Mercury Music Award winners The Xx have increased momentum for their much anticipated comeback by announcing that they'll be playing three UK shows in September, the news coming just a week or so after the trio revealed the first track off their forthcoming second album 'Co-exist'. That track was vintage XX fare, a drifting, dreamy number that suggested the group are going to retain their hallmark spatial sound. What does seem different though is the group's confidence, with a recent interview with Australian publication The Vine showing them in a new more open light.
"I think we've grown up a bit more. I think we know a bit more about what we're doing. Before we were diving head first, going everywhere, it was very overwhelming" said their vocalist Romy Madley Croft. "I think we've gained confidence, which is probably the thing that we all value the most from everything. Being forced in front of people to talk, and being put on a stage, you have to kind of. we've grown into it a bit more. It's nice not feeling cripplingly shy" she added.
The group will be playing London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire on September 10th, following that up with performances in Cardiff and Edinburgh on the 11th and 12th.
