The Wrestler Made Wood Address Estrangement Issues With Her Real Dad
The actress admits the role made her face her own family problems and now she and her father have never been closer - in fact they're planning to star opposite one another in a family production of Romeo & Juliet in North Carolina.
Wood insists such a project would never have been possible before she played Rourke's estranged daughter in The Wrestler.
She tells i-D magazine, "All these issues came up that I didn't know I still had until I was forced to go there and it totally reconnected me with him (father).
"Everything that's been pent-up over the years suddenly comes out, then you don't talk for a while, and then you slowly reconcile.
"There wasn't any closeness. We had to get to know each other again. Getting to know him now, it's like, 'Oh my God, you are so cool.'"
