The Walking Dead - The Walking Dead Wraps Up Debut Season In Style
THE WALKING DEAD, AMC's all-new zombie drama series, wrapped up its first season in style last night with a final episode packed with action and suspense. The show was initially praised by critics who were particularly impressed with the performance of British actor ANDREW LINCOLN who excels as 'Sherriff Rick Grimes', but mid-season the series began to attract mixed reviews. However, last night's finale was a return to form, and the cast are already looking forward to beginning work on season two, reports TVGuide.com
Lincoln, who plays the leader of a group of misfits intent on surviving the zombie apocalypse, spoke about his delight at the series' popularity, saying, "I don't think any of us expected this. In our best-possible-case scenarios, this isn't even close. It feels really unprecedented because the response has been so positive and affectionate", before adding, "I don't think I've ever felt such an extraordinary reaction where viewers got what we intended to make. It feels great". In last night's episode 'Grimes' eventually reaches his wife and kids who he has been travelling to find for weeks, and the group begin making plans for their next move. When speaking about his character's influence in a time of crisis, Lincoln added, "I think initially, everybody looks to a uniform".
Although season two has been commissioned, it has been reported that fans won't find out what happens to Grimes and the rest of the survivors until at least October 2011.
