The Voice Recap: Blind Auditions Continue As Teams Near Completion
On Sunday night's episode of The Voice (February 19, 2012), the blind auditions continued, with judges Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green getting ever closer to filling their 12 person teams. The blind auditions involve the hopeful contestants singing to the judges, whose backs are turned, ensuring that their opinion is based on the voice and not the image of the performers. If the judges like what they hear, they press a button and are eligible to mentor that contestant. If more than one judge wants to mentor that contestant, they get to choose the judge.
Cee Lo Green managed to convince Jamie Lono - currently an employee at a Potbelly sandwich shop - that he should be his mentor "because I eat sandwiches." It was enough to convince Lono, who joined Cee Lo's group, along with Broadway veteran Tony Vincent and Justin Hopkins, who was once a member of Carson Daly's house band. The teenager Mathai seemed to be the star of the show, according to E! Online, who report that he "brought the house down" and joins Adam Levine's mentor group. Christina welcomed Jonathas into her group, after Cee Lo Green admitted to mistaking him for Usher when he sang 'U Got It Bad.'
Meanwhile, in the UK, The Metro has printed a sneak preview of the British version of the show. On the judging panel are Jessie J, Tom Jones, WILL.I.AM of Black Eyed Peas and Danny O'Donoghue of The Script. Holly Willoughby and REGGIE YATES will present the show. According to the Metro, the BBC took a while to firm up the line-up. Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson was originally offered a slot on the show but reportedly dismissed the show as "c**p and demeaning to everyone involved."
