The Voice Finale: Christina Aguilera, Tony Lucca Clash Over '99 Problems'
Christina Aguilera really can't stomach Tony Lucca, the representative for Team Levine in America's 'The Voice' final. Lucca and Aguilera once performed a tour of duty together when part of Disney's Mouseketeers - in a clan that included JUSTIN TIMBLERAKE and Britney Spears - but evidently don't see eye to eye at all, and so when the 36 year-old performed a rendition of Jay Z's classic '99 Problems,' the pop star couldn't resist the chance to pick something wrong with the performance, even though, there wasn't anything bad with it at all.
Aguilera's ire? According to the New York Daily News she was upset that Lucca had picked a song that she deemed demeaning to woman; perhaps this is a fair point, but in the male singer's defence he had omitted the infamous line "I got 99 problems but a b***h ain't one." Maroon 5 man Adam Levine jumped into try and extinguish the situation, explaining to the surly songstress that "it's called a metaphor."
However Aguilera wouldn't let it go, and even revisited the topic after her own protege Chris Mann had performed. After he covered the diva's track 'The Voice Within' as a tribute to her, she commented "This is a real man, he respects women." We can't help but wonder if she'd said that had he sung a Britney song.
