The Voice Beats American Idol -- Again
Fox's American Idol is no longer the top-rated talent contest on the air. NBC's The Voice is. For the fifth time in the last six weeks, The Voice came out on top among viewers 18-49, the age group that advertisers primarily spend their money on. Idol , however, led among total adults -- counting 18.69 million viewers versus The Voice 's 16.85 million. But the biggest upset of the week was scored by CBS's new drama Person of Interest , which drew the biggest audience for a scripted show -- 15.67 million, edging out The Big Bang Theory with 15.04 million. NCIS , which usually takes the top honor among scripted shows, aired a rerun but nevertheless recorded 14.49 million viewers. Among the evening news shows, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams remained on top with 8.90 million viewers, maintaining its lead over ABC World News with Diane Sawyer with 7.55 million and the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley with 6.31 million million viewers. For the week overall, CBS led with a 6.0 rating and a 10 share. Fox followed with a 4.1/7, while ABC and NBC tied with an identical 3.8/6.
