The U.s Office To Come To An End In 2013

2013 will see the last season of the U.S version of The Office, reports the UKPA. The work-place sitcom will conclude due to a "creative decision," after many of the shows key stars took up new challenges.

"It didn't seem we could count on getting that many people back for a season 10," executive producer Greg Daniels said, whilst denying that a recent drop in ratings are responsible for the show not hitting double figures for seasons. "Certainly we are not leaving for any reason other than the ones I have described. The show has been healthy and valued by NBC," he said. It is unknown whether the shows initial star Steve Carell will return for one final swansong. The 50-year old actor, who had originally replicated Ricky Gervais's David Brent character, will be busy with upcoming projects Foxcatcher and Despicable Me 2. Gervais, though, might follow up on his 2011 cameo: "I couldn't be prouder of the success of the US version of The Office but enough is enough. Might bring this guy back..,' the star tweeted, attaching a caricatured image of Brent.

Spirits are high in the U.S Office camp, and the team are hoping to go out with a bang, despite an imminent exodus of stars. "We are planning a very big exciting last season," enthused Daniels, "this year feels like the last chance to really go out together and make an artistic ending for the show that pays off a lot of the stuff that has mattered most to fans with the core characters." The show endured a shaky start to become one of the most popular U.S comedies of the past seven years.
