The Tube Returns, On Radio
The 1980s show regularly featured performances from The Cure, The Smiths, Duran Duran, REM and U2 and propelled presenters Jools Holland and the late Paula Yates to fame.
Network Channel 4's decision to resurrect the show coincides with the end of the BBC's long-running TV music show Top Of The Pops last month (JUL06), after a 42-year run.
NATHALIE SCHWARTZ, Channel 4's director of radio, says, "The original Tube was not only enormously popular, it broke new bands and established Jools Holland and Paula Yates as household names."
