The Strokes Plan New Album

The Strokes plan to record a new album in January.

The 'Juicebox' rockers - who released their last album, 'First Impressions of Earth' in 2006 - are preparing to start work on an upcoming LP in the New Year and have already begun searching for a recording studio with their manager Ryan Gentles.

Bassist Nikolai Fraiture wrote on his Twitter page: "While the guys are in LA, I went to scout some studios in NYC with Ryan today for what looks like Jan recording!!! mood = f***ing excited.(sic)"

However, lead singer Julian Casablancas admits the plans haven't been finalised because the band - also consisting of guitarists Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr. and drummer Fabrizio Moretti - find it "tough" to put time aside for work.

He told "We're supposed to get back together in January but don't hold me to that.

"We've been trying to do it for years. I'm always available and they know that but getting together is tough."

Before 'First Impressions of Earth', the band released 'Room on Fire' in 2003. This was preceded by their award-winning debut LP 'Is This It'.
