The Stone Roses To Headline Optimus Alive As Part Of Reunion Tour


Optimus Alive Festival have announced the first acts and headliners at their upcoming festival. Stone Roses; Radiohead and The Cure are all set to headline; other first acts include Florence And The Machine; Snow Patrol; Metronomy and Mumford And Sons. The Stone Roses will headline Friday night and perform as part of their reunion tour; with The Cure and Radiohead performing Saturday and Sunday night respectively.

Also confirmed are Mazzy Star, who reformed in 2010 after a ten year hiatus. Their performance at Optimus Alive marks the final date in their European tour, which will begin at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona in May 2012 and take in two dates in London, one of which will be the Field Day Festival.

Meanwhile, indie rockers The Kooks will be making their second appearance at the festival, having played there in 2009. The band will be touring the US and Europe throughout the Spring and Summer of 2012, culminating in a date in the Ukraine in September 2012.

The festival, based in Portugal, was launched in 2007 and since then, has attracted big names such as Bob Dylan; The Black Eyed Peas; Deadmau5; Rage Against The Machine and Coldplay. The site is based in the town of Oeiras, situated just five miles away from the capital, Lisbon. The festival is well known for its 'beach by day, music by night' approach, with the music starting in the late afternoon and finishing in the early hours. They also boast a four star campsite with hot showers, a swimming pool and shuttle service to and from the festival.
