The Script - The Script Overwhelmed By O2 Crowd

The Script played their biggest ever solo concert at London's The O2 last night (26.03.11).

The 'If You Ever Come Back' hitmakers - who frequently admit to being shocked by their success - said playing to the 18,000 capacity crowd was extra special because last time they visited the iconic London venue it was empty.

Guitarist Mark Sheenan explained: "To put The Script and The O2 in the same sentence is amazing. Last time we were here we were shooting a video and it was empty. Now to have it full is unbelievable."

They later tweeted: "O2 Arena - London - Our biggest Gig so far - 18,000 people!!! What a night, we'll never forget this one, Thank you."

Opening with 'You Won't Feel A Thing' the first track on their second album, the Irish trio then launched into a series of hits from their debut release including 'Talk You Down' and 'We Cry'.

While he made frequent mentions of the band's early days as struggling Dublin musicians, lead singer and keyboardist Danny O' Donoghue also took to the stage with the Irish tri-colour flag stitched into the lining of his custom made jacket.

The Script - which also includes drummer Glen Power - finished with 'Rusty Halo' before coming back for an emotional encore where they paid tribute to those affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Before playing 'This = Love', Danny said: "This is for the people of Japan because they need love right now."

Support act Clare Maguire, who featured in BBC's Sound Of 2011 poll, wowed the crowd with songs including 'The Last Dance'.
