Ryan Gosling - The Notebook Helped R. Kelly Realise His Marriage Was Over

The Ignition hitmaker, who wed former backing dancer Andrea in 1996, admits the emotionally-charged film helped him decide to file for divorce, as his own relationship paled in comparison to the everlasting love he saw onscreen.

Detailing his decision in his new memoir, Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me, he writes, "As the film credits started to roll, I couldn't move. I burst into tears. People walking past me patted me on the back, trying to console me. The Notebook was beautiful, and I was crying because its hero and heroine had died together.

"But I was also crying because I remembered a Valentine's Day - when a helicopter dropped a rainfall of roses - that had come and gone... My marriage had died. And there was nothing I could do to bring it back."

The star divorced Andrea Kelly, the mother of his three children, in 2009. She is now a castmember on new U.S. reality show Hollywood Exes, alongside the former wives of Prince, Will Smith and Eddie Murphy.
