The Monkees - The Monkees Ask Gig-goers To Sing Davy Jones Song On Tour
The Monkees are honouring Davy Jones' memory on their first tour without the singer by asking audience members to provide the vocals for his most famous track Daydream Believer.
The frontman passed away in February (12) and his bandmates Peter Tork and Micky Dolenz decided to go ahead with the band's North American tour, their first since 1997.
They kicked off the trek in California last week (ends11Nov12) and they have been screening video tributes in honour of their late friend during the shows.
At the group's gig in Los Angeles on Saturday night (10Nov12), Dolenz revealed they had been undecided who should take on vocal duties for Jones' signature song, Daydream Believer, so they agreed to give the track "to the audience" by asking a gig-goer to perform it.
They picked a woman from the crowd at the Greek Theatre and invited her up on stage to sing the track, with the rest of the audience joining in, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
