The Klaxons Go Green

by | 06 May 2009

Nu-rave rockers THE KLAXONS have gone low-carbon for the recording of their new album.

The band are currently working on the fabled "difficult second album", but even though the creative process might be taking its toll, they still have one eye on the environment.

In order to lay down tracks for the as yet untitled release, the group headed to The Premises, the only solar-powered recording studio in the country.

The move forms parts of a wider We Support Solar campaign, which has been backed by 200 MPs, Greenpeace and LILY ALLEN.

In a statement, the Klaxons said: "We're proud to back the We Support Solar campaign. We use The Premises solar-powered recording studio and we know how important solar power is to the delivery of a low carbon UK."

The band took the decision to go green after their record company asked them to head back to the studio to have another bash at their second album.

According to reports their initial efforts met with disapproval as executives thought it was too psychedelic.

The We Support Solar campaign is aimed at creating more jobs as well as helping the environment in a time when green credentials are seen as increasingly important.

It is not the first time that the Klaxons, behind hits including MAGICK, have shown an interest in the slightly offbeat.

After winning the Mercury Music Prize the act revealed that they were considering donating the cash prize to research in telepathy or something similar.
