The hit Channel 4 comedy The Inbetweeners will be returning to TV for a surprise fourth series. The Daily Star revealed today (April 17, 2012) that James Buckley (who plays the role of Jay Cartwright) let the news slip that the four lads will return for more outrageous adventures, in a series set when the boys are either in college or working.

There will be a serious shock in store for fans of the comedy show, though, as it appears that one of the four main characters is going to be killed off. James wouldn't be drawn into revealing exactly who that would be, but either Jay, Simon, Will or Neil are going to come to an unfortunate end in this fourth series, it would seem. "We have to see what happens. Maybe one of them dies and the other three have to join up for the funeral," he said whilst talking about the new show on a trip to the USA.

Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, who created the show, have previously indicated that they had finished with the characters that became so popular over the last three series. However, the success of the Inbetweeners movie forced them to have a rethink about bringing the boys back to the small screen. The movie, released last year was filmed on a budget of 3.5 million and raked in an impressive 45 million at the box office.
