The Gaslight Anthem's Brian Fallon Confesses His Love For New Kids On The Block
We interviewed Brian Fallon from The Gaslight Anthem to discuss his upcoming album 'Handwritten', his influences, his love of motorcycles and, most importantly, his not-so-guilty pleasure -The New Kids On The Block.
When Contactmusic.com asked Brian which band, dead or alive, he'd love to gig with, he told us The Clash. He has previously expressed that The Clash was the first record he ever bought, and on bringing this fact up in conversation, we learned that this indeed was not the entire truth.
'Well, it was the first record that was bought for me', he said. 'My first real one was New Kids On The Block 'Hangin' Tough' but that doesn't really count because I was like eight'.
I think you'll find it does count, Brian! And we think that many people would be perfectly happy with that being his first record. On this reassurance, Brian goes on to tell us about his NKOTB t-shirt. 'Yeah, I have a t-shirt from their last tour when they did it with the Backstreet Boys, I wear it sometimes for shows. I actually wore it on the revival tour, I'm sure you can find video of it on the internet.'
As if to reaffirm his allegiance to the boys Brian finished off by breaking into the Hangin' Tough chorus. "Listen up everybody if you wanna take a chance just get on the floor and do the New Kids' dance!'' Perhaps we can expect a NKOTB cover happening at some point?
