The Edge Supported By Bandmates At Mother's Funeral
The guitarist's mum Gwenda, who was in her late 70s, passed away on Monday (11Jun12) after a short battle with illness.
The Edge, real name David Evans, and his family paid their respects to Gwenda at a mass service in Malahide, Dublin on Saturday, and they were joined by U2 stars Bono, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen.
The mourners then remembered Gwenda at a quiet reception at The Grand Hotel.
The Edge's mother acted as a roadie for the group in the early days of the band, with Bono once declaring, "Mrs Edge was always there. She had an orange Volkswagen, she picked up our gear and she never complained."
