'The Dark Night Rises' To Be Christian Bale's Last Batman Film
'The Dark Knight Rises' will be Christian Bale's last Batman movie. In a recent interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Christian Bale said that he will not return to the franchise after the upcoming 'The Dark Knight Rises'.
The 37-year old actor confirmed that filming for the superhero movie has ended: "I wrapped a few days ago so that will be the last time I'm taking that [Batman mask] off. I believe that the whole production wrapped yesterday, so it's all done. Everything's finished. It's me and [director CHRISTOPER NOLAN] - that will be the end of that Batman era." Bale has starred in three Nolan Batman films: 2005's 'Batman Begins', 2008's 'The Dark Knight' and the upcoming film 'The Dark Knight Rises'. 'The Dark Knight' raked in a mammoth $1 billion worldwide due partly to the death of Heath Ledger.
Talking about his co-stars, Bale suggested that Catwoman, played by Anne Hathaway, will be the most difficult character to depict: "In many ways, [Hathaway] has the hardest job. There are a number of people who feel that the Catwoman role has been defined previously. So I always saw Anne's role as being the toughest job of any of us." Of new co-star Joseph Gordon-levitt, who plays good cop John Blake, he said: "Joseph is a very intriguing guy. He's somebody who truly seems to love acting. He's a good, smart guy." The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for release next year.
