The Black Keys Confirmed To Rock Mtv Movie Awards

The Black Keys are among the latest acts to have been announced to perform at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, the blues rockers now firmly considered to be among the mainstream after over a decade of toil.

Joining them on the bill is DJ Martin Solveig, and previously announced acts such as Fun and Wiz Khalifa. Hosting the awards will be British comic Russell Brand, now fully moved on from his split with Katy Perry and apparently as smutty as ever. He said of hosting the event, "The MTV Movie Awards incorporates two of my favorite things: movies and awards. If somehow group sex could be involved, it would be the greatest night of my life."

The Black Keys formed in 2001 and found themselves in the unfortunate situation of entering the blues rock and roll market just at the time that Jack White'S The White Stripes were taking off as a major commercial and critical concern, the group's 2001 effort 'White Blood Cells' garnering the hit 'Fell In Love With A Girl.' Nevertheless The Black Keys have endured beyond their contemporaries, and finally breached the US Billboard Top 10 with their sixth studio LP 'Brothers' in 2010, following that up with a number two spot last year for the gold selling 'El Camino.' Highlights for them this year have included headlining Coachella Festival.
