Roald Dahl's children's book 'The BFG' is set to be turned into a live-action movie.
Dreamworks has reportedly got the rights to the film, which is set to be produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall ('The Bourne Ultimatum'), with 'E.T.' writer Melissa Mathison in line to transform the novel into a big screen hit.
The children's tome, which was first published in 1982, tells the story of a girl named Sophie - whose character was inspired by the author's granddaughter Sophie Dahl - and her friendship with the Big Friendly Giant.
There are no actors or a director confirmed to be starring in the forthcoming motion picture and a release date is yet to be announced.
It is not the first time the book has been turned into a movie as an animated version of 'The BFG' previously hit screens in 1989, and saw British actor David Jason provide the voice of the titular character with Amanda Root taking on the role of Sophie.
A number of Roald's other books have also been mimed for the big screen including 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', 'James and the Giant Peach' and 'Fantastic Mr. Fox'.
