The Beatles Beat Jackson To Top Another Albums Poll

THE BEATLES' classic SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND has topped a poll to find the UK's favourite album. The 1967 disc beat out competition from MICHAEL JACKSON's 1982 effort THRILLER in the survey of 220,000 music fans by BBC Radio 2 to commemorate the album chart's 50th anniversary. U2 came third with THE JOSHUA TREE, followed closely by FLEETWOOD MAC's RUMOURS. WISH YOU WERE HERE by PINK FLOYD rounds out the top five. The UK's Top 10 Favourite Albums are: 1. SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND (1967) - THE BEATLES 2. THRILLER (1982) - MICHAEL JACKSON 3. THE JOSHUA TREE (1987) - U2 4. RUMOURS (1977) - FLEETWOOD MAC 5. WISH YOU WERE HERE (1975) - PINK FLOYD 6. REVOLVER (1966) - THE BEATLES 7. BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER (1970) - SIMON + GARFUNKEL 8. ABBEY ROAD (1969) - THE BEATLES 9. A NIGHT AT THE OPERA (1975) - QUEEN 10. THE BEATLES (aka THE WHITE ALBUM) (1968) - THE BEATLES.

Once again the British skewed view speaks for all but asks none.Where exactly did this poll scout for it's target class? I don't remember seeing this anywhere asking for my opinion!The Beatles are not quite the renaissance greats these age, gender and demographic-bias polls like to portray. That's not to say the British public are completely intelligent when it comes to music - I mean look at the top chart choices every week for proof of that.What an embarrassment.
