Beach Boys - The Beach Boys Announce 50th Anniversary World Tour
Following their appearance at the Grammy awards on Sunday (February 12, 2012), The Beach Boys have announced a world tour to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary. The dates, which have been published on the band's official website show that the band will be touring between April 24, 2012 and August 7, 2012, starting in Tucson, Arizona in the United States and will finish the tour in Lokeren in Belgium. And, of course, they will be playing two dates in Berkeley and Los Angeles, California; the area with which their sound has become synonymous.
Tickets for the tour are on sale at different times for each venue but are likely to sell out. It was unclear for some time whether or not Brian Wilson would be joining the band for the 50th anniversary celebrations; mixed messages were given out last year, between band members and press statements, but the message on the website is clear to see: the 2012 reunion tour will feature Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks.
Last Sunday, the enduring appeal of the Beach Boys was celebrated at the Grammy awards. They performed 'Good Vibrations' as part of the show's entertainment and were met with rapturous applause from the audience in the Staples Centre. Talking to reporters at the awards ceremony, the band said "we've been up for a couple of Grammy nominations but 'Good Vibrations' lost out to 'Monday Monday' (by the Mamas And The Papas) and 'Kokomo' lost to 'Don't Worry Be Happy'" before adding "we're getting tired of losing and I'm glad they finally had us on the show."
