'The Avengers' To Bring Curtain Down On Tribeca Film Festival

Superhero film 'The Avengers' has been chosen to close the Tribeca Film Festival according to Reuters. The film is based on the Marvel Comics, the first of which were published in 1963 and focused on the efforts of classic characters Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and the Black Widow in their attempts to save the world. The film is a star-studded affair, with Robert Downey Jr returning in his popular Iron Man role and a host of other A-listers joining him including Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L Jackson.
With the film opening to general release on May 4th, the timing is perfect for the organisers at Tribeca, with the closing scheduled to be on April 28th. As a mark of respect for all their hard work, the festival has also invited "everyday heroes" including police, fire department and military members to attend the festival.
'The Avengers' is among many highlights in the forthcoming program, though with only a handful of big budget affairs including 'The Five Year Engagement,' from the makers of the Russell Brand starring 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall.' The festival was originally co-founded by Robert De Niro and was done so as an attempt to revive the Manhattan area of New York after the September 11th terrorist attacks of 2001.
