'The Amazing Spider-man's' Mysterious End-credits Explained

'The Amazing Spider-Man' is certainly living up to his name, with critics gushing over the latest reboot starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. However, it appears there's one little detail playing on cinemagoers minds: what the hell happens in the end credits?

If you've seen the movie by now, you'll have witnessed the final moments in which Connors is seen incarcerated in a maximum security setting, where he's paid a visit by a mystery man who apparently has inside information on the disappearance of Peter Parker's father. It leaves cinemagoers wondering "What just happened?", but luckily, director Marc Webb explained the scene to MTV News, saying, "We wanted to convey that there were more forces at work than you may have initially thought. That's all I can say about that. But I invite speculation. I think it's very fun and interesting to listen to". When asked the same question, actor Rhys Ifans gave a more direct answer, revealing, "Connors is sent to an asylum, a high-security asylum, as you would be if you threw police towers across the Brooklyn Bridge. And he's visited by, shall we say, a representative from Oscorp. How he gets into that cell and how he leaves that cell without the guards knowing? We have yet to find out".

Neither Webb nor Ifans would confirm the mystery character's identity, though Webb teased, "There is a silhouette on a display as Peter enters Oscorp, which reads, 'Our founder, Norman Osborn'.There is a back story to that ... which I will not reveal to you!". Looks like Spider-Man fans will have to wait for the sequel.
