Thandie Newton - Thandie Newton Admits To Affair With Director
Thandie Newton, the English actress best known for her roles in 'Crash' and 'Mission Impossible II', has opened up about a six-year affair she had with the Australian director John Duigan. Thandie Newton revealed she began seeing the filmmaker at the age of 16.
OnTheRedCarpet.com quoted Newton as telling InStyle Magazine, "I was a very shy, very sweet girl. I wasn't in control of the situation. Would I have liked things to be different? Sure. But I can now value myself more for the way I got through it". The actress said the affair began after she auditioned for Duigan's 1991 movie 'Flirting', which also starred Nicole Kidman. Newton added, "I don't see myself as a victim... Part of me feels grateful I can accept the difficulties that came with that situation and be a more compassionate person myself". Duigan, who is 23-years Newton's senior, is best known for directing 'The Parole Officer', 'Lawn Dogs', 'Romero' and 'Sirens'. The actress starred in his 1996 movie 'The Leading Man', opposite Jon Bon Jovi. Newton said she was opening up about the affair to help others who are put in a similarly vulnerable position.
Thandie Newton married the director Ol Parker in 1998. The couple have two daughters together, 11-year-old Ripley and 7-year-old Nico.
