Tennant Slams Cowell's Music Tastes
But Tennant is annoyed that Cowell ignores certain musical genres on his TV talent series, instead choosing mainstream artists' tunes for his singing wannabes to belt out.
The singer says, "What bugs me is that Simon Cowell's idea of pop music is so narrow. It's basically people singing Whitney (Houston), Mariah (Carey), maybe Elton (John) - and if it's not power ballads it's an equally narrow version of disco."
And Tennant wants to see a more eclectic range of music available for the TV acts to choose from.
He adds, "Why don't they have, say, a new-wave week? Or Eighties electro week? There are vast swathes of music out there."
