Ted Danson Replacing Laurence Fishburne On Csi
Joining the team amidst the personal fallout from last season's "take-down" of serial killer Nate Haskell, the actor will play a Csi supervisor working the grave yard shift. Executive producer Carol Mendelsohn spoke of her delight at his arrival, saying, "You can create a new character on the page, but until the perfect actor comes along and breathes life into it, it's just words. We're very excited Ted Danson came along". The 63-year-old most recently won plaudits for his portrayal of magazine editor George Christopher in the HBO series 'Bored to Death'. His arrival comes after the casting of Laurence Fishburne failed to rescue the show's ratings in the wake of William Petersen's shock departure. Once a former 'Top 5' series, the previous season finished with a rating of just 3.3 among adults 18-49, leaving it in 30th place. Producer Don Mcgill was optimistic Ted could breathe new life into the long-running series, saying, "From the moment we all started talking about the role, it was clear he couldn't be more perfect.Intelligence, wit, warmth, depth of character and emotion, he brings it all. And now he'll have to bring latex gloves, too".
Ted Danson is perhaps best known for his role as central character 'Sam Malone' in 'Cheers' and for his role as 'Dr Becker' in the series 'Becker'. He also appears in Larry David's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'.
