Julie Taymor - Taymor Fighting For Spider-man Pay

Director Julie Taymor is embroiled in a dispute with the producers of Broadway's Spider-man stage show over allegations she is owed money for her work on the troubled musical.
Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark opened for previews last year (10) but has been plagued by numerous problems, including on-set accidents, delays and spiralling costs.
The Across The Universe moviemaker stepped down from directing duties on Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark in March (11), shortly before the superhero show was closed for a major overhaul.
The musical recently re-opened and is set for a 14 June (11) opening, but it has now emerged producers are facing another setback as Taylor fights for pay she claims she's owed for her time on the show.
Laura Penn, the executive director of the union which represents Taymor, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, has confirmed the director is seeking compensation for her work.
She tells the Daily Beast, "Julie was paid $125,000 five years ago. For nine years of work on this project that is all she has been paid. It's startling. People assume it's an $85 million production and she made $10 million or walked away with a settlement in the six figures. And it's just not true. One of the requirements we have from producers is that they provide us with statements of activities, things like box-office receipts and operating costs. And not only are they not paying her, they're not providing us with those statements. We have no information."
The website reports union bosses sent a letter to producers several weeks ago but claim they have yet to receive a response. If they do not receive a response within a week, the case is set to head towards arbitration.
