Tarantino Plans Basterds Prequelby Contributor | 12 May 2009
It's yet to hit movie screens, but QUENTIN TARANTINO has already started penning a prequel to his forthcoming picture INGLORIOUS BASTERDS, it has been revealed.
Speaking to the New York Times, the director explained that a sub-plot which was ditched from the film could become a separate picture.
"I have a half-written prequel ready to go if this movie's a smash," he said.
The story involves a group of African American soldiers trapped behind enemy lines.
And it seems that his creativity does not stop there, with Tarantino also pondering the possibility of a sequel in the same interview.
He explained that how as a child he often had revenge fantasies relating to the Ku Klux Klan, and that this could form the basis of any script.
"Once the Basterds get through with Europe, they could go to the [American] south and do it to the Kluxers in the '50s," he added.
Inglorious Basterds tells the tale of a group of Jewish soldiers who embark on a revenge mission in Nazi controlled Europe.
Previously, Tarantino told the BBC that the film is "modern" and "in your face" and would not be a "period piece".
