Talent-show Face-off; Both Sides Lose
NBC's The Voice and ABC's Dancing with the Stars fought it out between 8 00 p.m. and 10 00 p.m. Monday night, and each of them ended up bloodied by the other. The premiere of DWTS captured 18.47 million viewers, but that was down 18 percent from the 22.66 million viewers who tuned in a year ago. Still, having to compete with such a show that attracts such figures also sank ratings for NBC's big hit The Voice. Its numbers dropped 13 percent from last week to a season low of 11.77 million. That was bad news also for NBC's Smash, which followed. It tied its season low of 6.67 million viewers. However, the return of DWTS boosted ratings for ABC's Castle which followed with 11.86 million viewers.
