The T in the Park festival has followed in the footsteps of Madonna and U2 by signing a deal with concert promoter Live Nation.
The Material Girl agreed a groundbreaking contract with Live Nation in October last year which ended her 25-year relationship with Warner Music and saw the entirety of her output, including albums, tours, merchandise and DVD, controlled by the Los Angeles-based company.
U2 signed a similar 12-year deal with Live Nation in March while reports claimed last week that Jay-Z is to agree a $150 million (£75 million) contract with the firm.
And now Live Nation has moved into the UK festival market by inking a contract with T in the Park, Scotland's biggest music festival.
As part of a joint venture with Denis Desmond's Gaiety Investments, Live Nation will now control 67 per cent of Dance Factory, the owners of T in the Park.
Geoff Ellis, boss of DF Concerts and T in the Park, said he was "pleased to welcome Live Nation into DF Concerts".
"We look forward to continuing to work with an array of diverse artists and creating first class events such as T in the Park and Hydro Connect," he added.
Paul Latham, president of Live Nation UK, added: "Live Nation is delighted to have a promotional and festival presence in Scotland. We are looking forward to working with Geoff Ellis and his team on their many projects."
This year's T in the Park, held at Balado Airfield between July 11th and July 13th, features REM, Kings of Leon, the Verve and Rage Against the Machine.
