Syd Barrett Photos To Go Under The Hammer

Snapshots of late PINK FLOYD rocker SYD BARRETT are to be sold at auction to raise money for charity.

Mick Rock captured the singer/songwriter at his London home in the 1970s, supposedly at the height of his battle with drugs and mental illness.

The collection, which will be sold at Phillips de Pury auction house in London on 21 November (09), is expected to also include shots Rock took for Barrett's 1970 solo album The Madcap Laughs.

Barrett retired from music in the mid-1970s and became a recluse. He died in 2006 after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 60.

It's widely believed he suffered mental illness, brought on by his use of psychedelic drugs during the 1960s.
