Swinton Hates Hogwarts
The Oscar-winning actress has slammed creator J.K. Rowling's use of a boarding school in her fantasy tales, claiming the happy lives of Hogwarts' students give child fans an unrealistic view of private education.
The Michael Clayton star attended the West Heath Girls' School, Sevenoaks, England, and was in the same school year as late royal Diana, Princess of Wales, but insists she has few fond memories of her time at the exclusive school.
The 47-year-old tells U.S. magazine Out, "I'm loath to say anything good about going to boarding school, which is one of the reasons why I'm not a believer in 'Harry Potter', because I believe it fetishises boarding school for children."
