Susan Boyle Through To Britain's Got Talent Semi-final
24 May 2009The 48-year-old church volunteer shot to fame last month after her audition of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables became an online phenomenon, with almost 60 million people viewing a YouTube video of her performance.
Boyle has since earned several celebrity fans, including Demi Moore, and appeared on the Larry King and Oprah Winfrey chat shows.
Viewers of the ITV1 talent show last night saw Boyle announced among 40 acts put through to the live semi-final of the competition, the winner of which wins £100,000 and the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.
Other performers to progress to the semi-final include ten-year-old singer and dancer Hollie Steel, Michael Jackson soundalike Sheen Jafargholi, 12, and several street dance troupes.
The hopefuls will perform in a series of five nightly shows on ITV1 from Sunday night, with two acts picked in each heat ahead of the live final next Saturday.
Sara Lee, a spokeswoman for Britain's Got Talent, confirmed Boyle's performance on Sunday evening will be available almost instantly on Internet, allowing her international fans a chance to watch the singer's latest appearance.
