Susan Boyle Musical Set For Global Tour
Boyle will be played by actress Elaine C Smith, best known for playing 'Mary' in the popular Scottish sitcom 'Rab C Nesbitt'. The singer, who has sold more than 14 million copies of her two albums 'I Dreamed A Dream' and 'The Gift', said she was thrilled her life was heading to the stage, saying, "I never thought my life story would end up on the stage but a lot has happened in two years and it is a very exciting prospect. I hope everyone enjoys the show and I promise there will be a few surprises along the way". Producer Michael Harrison said Boyle's meteoric rise to fame had all the "qualities of a fairytale", adding, "She is an inspiring woman and her story is an excellent one to tell - someone with a raw talent who surprises the world and overturns all the odds to make a new life for herself". The show will open at Newcastle's Theatre Royal in March 2012 for a run of at least six months and producers have already lined up a 26-week tour with dates in the UK, the US and Australia.
Susan Boyle has achieved global fame since her success on 'Britain's Got Talent'. In 2010, she topped the UK and US charts simultaneously twice in the same year - the first artist to do so since The Beatles in 1969.
