A fight marred cult rockers the BUTTHOLE SURFERS' comeback show in New York on Tuesday night (29Jul08) when frontman GIBBY HAYNES and a soundman had to be separated.
Haynes was escorted offstage by security after confronting the soundman at the end of the band's Webster Hall gig when the crewmember ignored the singer's requests to turn his monitor up.
Security guards had to step in when Haynes threw a beer bottle at the soundman and it appeared the two were about to scrap onstage.
Prior to the fight, the band's classic 1980s line-up wowed fans with classic tunes during the final show of their summer reunion tour.
Guitarist Paul Leary took over lead vocal duties after Haynes was taken offstage.
Haynes' antics served to whip fans up into a frenzy and they doused the band with debris as the group left the stage.
They refused to return to the stage for a planned encore.
