A rare copy of the first comic book to feature Superman has set a new record after selling at auction for $1.5 million (£937,500).
The 1938 edition of Action Comics No. 1 was snapped up by a private collector via auction website ComicConnect.com on Monday (29Mar10).
The record price for a comic book has already been broken twice this year (10): another copy of Action Comics No. 1 sold in February (10) for $1 million (£625,000); and within days a 1939 Batman comic featuring the first appearance of the Caped Crusader was purchased by a private buyer for the same price.
