Dave Stewart - Superheavy Snubbed Massive Olympics Gig

Supergroup Superheavy turned down the chance to perform at the London Olympics this summer (12) because they wanted their first proper gig to be in a more intimate setting, according to bandmember Dave Stewart.
Stewart and fellow SuperHeavy star Joss Stone quietly debuted the group's material to an unsuspecting audience at a gig venue belonging to the soul star's mother just days after they had written the tracks.
And the former Eurythmics star is adamant the band's first real show will be just as low-key, revealing the line-up - which also features Sir Mick Jagger, reggae superstar Damian Marley and Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman - snubbed the chance to stage a special gig to mark the upcoming sporting event.
Stewart tells The Examiner, "We always talk about making it, well, not a secret gig, but just a small place in New York or something like that. We haven't set anything. We went through a million different ramifications. Everybody wants to do something. Everybody's busy doing things, but we can all regroup at one point. It's a mixture of five managers.
"The funny thing is, SuperHeavy was approached to perform at the 2012 Olympics, because we are mixed culturally - Indian, Jamaican, British. It's all very interesting.
"SuperHeavy, when people realised what it was, we were asked to do everything - The Grammys, the Olympics, the opening of a balloon in Bangkok. There's a wall of invitations."
