Sugarland - Sugarland Named In Stage Collapse Suit
Country stars Sugarland have been named in a lawsuit filed by 44 survivors of August's (11) Indiana State Fair stage collapse, in which seven people lost their lives.
The duo, Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, was set to perform at the summer concert when a thunderstorm and severe winds brought the stage crashing down.
More than forty revellers were injured in the incident, and now many of the survivors are suing those associated with the show, including Nettles and Bush.
A lawsuit filed on Tuesday (22Nov11) by attorneys from more than 20 law firms across Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky alleges there was a breach of reasonable care to revellers at the event.
Along with Sugarland, the show's producers, stage riggers and other associates are named as defendants in the lawsuit, according to the Associated Press.
The plaintiffs' lawyer Mario Massillamany says in a statement, "Unfortunately, this tragedy could have been prevented if the responsible parties had been concerned about the concertgoers that night."
Sugarland is thought to be named in two other suits stemming from the catastrophe. The band is currently on hiatus.
