Strictly Come Dancing Eye Team Gb's Bradley Wiggins
Reality shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and 'I'm A Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here' are vying for the signatures of Team GB's recent heroes for their new seasons, according to the UK's Sun newspapers. Major targets for the Bbc's dancing show include golf medal winning cyclist Bradley Wiggins and bronze medallist Beth Tweddle.
Casting chiefs are furiously attempting to win the race to sign up the champions, after Team GB's best Olympics showing ever. Elsewhere, cyclist Elizabeth Armitstead and sailing star Ben Ainslie are being lined up for 'I'm A Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here', as is swimmer Rebecca Adlington. Though the stars will be keen to remain in their respective sports - some looking ahead to Rio 2016 - the reality shows could be big money spinners, with six figures likely to be offered to Wiggins in particular. An ITV source said, "It's war between the rival shows to get the biggest Olympic names signed up and smash their rivals out of the water. The nation has fallen in love with the Games and the most popular athletes have shot to the top of the celeb target lists". The channel will certainly have a fight on their hands, with a BBC source saying, "Our priority is to secure as many London 2012 medal winners for this series of Strictly as possible. We want to get some big sporting names on board".
Ballerina Darcey Bussell is reportedly undergoing a crash course in ballroom dancing after joining the judging panel of Strictly Come Dancing. A source said, "Darcey is a high profile signing for the Beeb. They don't want her getting tripped up by not knowing what she's talking about."
