Streep And Hoffman 'Set For Doubt'

Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman are both reportedly set to star in the big screen adaptation of the play Doubt.

The John Patrick Shanley play, which was written in 2004, will be adapted for Miramax Films.

According to Variety, production will begin on December 1st and Shanley has written the script and will take on the directing duties.

Scott Rudin, who worked on the Queen, Notes on a Scandal, Closer and the Life Aquatic, will be producing the movie.

Doubt is set in a Catholic school in the Bronx during the mid 1960s. An old nun makes paedophile accusations against a priest at the school.

Seymour Hoffman won a number of awards for his portrayal of Truman Capote in Capote, based upon the events of when the author was writing the classic novel In Cold Blood.

He has since starred in a number of movies, such as the third instalment in the Mission Impossible franchise alongside Tom Cruise.

Streep recently earned rave reviews for her performance as the nightmare boss in The Devil Wears Prada.
