Stoop Too Low? Twitter Backlash Over Kathy Griffin's NYE Antics

Hmm, seems not everyone was laughing at Kathy Griffin's little skit with Anderson Cooper during CNN's New Year's Eve coverage on Monday evening (December 31, 2012). In case you're one of the few people who haven't yet watched the YouTube footage, the veteran comedienne got down on her knees and pretended to - ahem - pleasure her openly gay best friend. Cooper looked pretty uncomfortable, though Griffin seemed to be having a great time and made reference to the incident on numerous occasions. The on-screen pairing of Cooper and Griffin is becoming somewhat of a New Year's Eve tradition, though the comedienne seems to do something stupid every time. In 2009 she swore, last year she attempted to strip down to her underwear. This year was perhaps her most shocking routine yet, and Twitter users across American really let her have it. One said, "I'm not fond of Anderson Cooper, but I can't imagine what he did to deserve being paired with Kathy Griffin. Did he eat a baby?" Another said, "Anderson Cooper is great. Kathy Griffin is so so awful." The general consensus appeared to be that the double-act is getting pretty tired, summed up by one user who said, "Kathy Griffin: 'Something something blah blah blah!' Anderson Cooper: 'That's not true.' Repeat x 1000."
