Stones Convinced Cooper To Become Controversial
ALICE COOPER insists seeing THE ROLLING STONES on the ED SULLIVAN SHOW when he was younger convinced him to become a rebellious rocker. The SCHOOL'S OUT singer is currently opening for the band during some of their A Bigger Bang shows in the US and claims they were one of the reasons he decided to go into music. He explains, "I have known The Stones for 30 years - when I was in high school that was the band. I was 16 when The Stones came out. "When my parents saw the BEATLES on Ed Sullivan they went - 'Oh, I don't know about that!' "Then they saw The Stones and they said, "You know those Beatles look great (in comparison)!'" Cooper loved the controversial reaction the band received and decided to become even more shocking. He adds, "(At the time) in my little mind I was like, 'I'm going to make these Stones look like choir boys!'"
