Stone Roses To Record New Album

Stone Roses will record a new album next year.

The quartet - Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani and Reni - are planning their first new material in 16 years, with recording scheduled to take place after a holiday when their current summer tour comes to an end.

A source told The Sun newspaper: ''John and Ian have been sending each other ideas for over a year now. During rehearsals they have tried some new songs and really felt that the old magic was still there with the songwriting.

''They have decided they will give it another spin with new music next year.''

One of the group's friends, musician and writer John Robb, had previously revealed the band - who split in 1996 - felt they were better than ever ahead of their comeback shows.

Speaking while the band were rehearsing, John said: ''The Stone Roses always worked hard, right from the very start - they rehearsed every day during their formative years and it's this work ethic they have returned to now.

''John is enthusing about the way the band now sounds, saying that they now sound better than ever.''
