Stone Roses Fan Selling Bottled 'Atmosphere' From Concert
The seller says the "atmosphere" was collected "at around 10pm on the opening night", adding, "Here is your chance to own your very own piece of Mancunian history... approx 10cc of awesome atmosphere" Crucially, he insists that the atmosphere was bottled at Heaton Park between the songs 'This is the One' and 'She Bangs the Drums' - perhaps the finest moment in the set. The item listing says the seller is unable to send to people outside of the UK because of "totally electrified and awesome atmosphere in the container", adding, "It might cause security/health and safety issues being carried in a pressurised aircraft environment". The item had already received bids of over 500 pounds, before the seller pulled the "atmosphere" in the wake of the death of fellow fan Christopher Brahney, who was found on Monday in the Manchester Ship Canal, near Salford Quays. Owner of the 'atmosphere' Gary Finch said he felt it was "not appropriate" to be selling a joke item under the circumstances.
Over 220,000 tickets were sold for the three nights at Heaton Park, which sold out in its entirety in 68 minutes. The Stone Roses - who recorded just two albums before dissolving in 1996- also headlined the 'T in the Park' festival in Scotland on Saturday.
