The Stone Roses - Stone Roses Comeback Documentary Heading To Cinemas
The Stone Roses are set to hit cinemas in the summer (13) after director Shane Meadows landed a theatrical release for his tell-all documentary about the band's comeback.
The cult rockers returned to the stage last May (12) for their first gig in 16 years, and went on to perform to sold-out crowds across Britain and Europe.
This Is England moviemaker Meadows filmed the group's reunion and was granted exclusive backstage access with the bandmembers, and now fans will be able to watch all the action when The Stone Roses: Made Of Stone is released in the U.K. and Ireland on 5 June (13).
The rockers will attend the premiere in their native Manchester, England on 30 May (13) and fans will be able to buy tickets for the event, which will be satellite-linked to 100 cinemas across the U.K. at the same time as official launch.
Meadows will also take part in a question-and-answer session with fans at the premiere and via Twitter.com.
The director says, "Making this film, I got to be part of something truly remarkable, the double decade awaited 'resurrection' of my all time favourite band, The Stone Roses.
"People say that you can't recapture your youth, it'll never be the same second time round etc, but that's utter rubbish. The Roses were never allowed to reach their peak first time around so as far as I and millions of fans around the world were concerned, with this comeback the Roses could be even greater."
