Stewart Mocks Eastwood's "Old Man And The Seat"

With late-night TV comedians virtually ignoring Mitt Romney's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention and focusing instead on mocking Clint Eastwood's "empty chair" performance earlier in the evening, President Obama undoubtedly must have felt that the actor made his day. In an interview with USA Today , the president said that he was a "huge Clint Eastwood fan" and described Eastwood as "a great actor and an even better director." Asked whether he felt offended by Eastwood's remarks, he replied, "One thing about being president or running for president -- if you're easily offended, you should probably choose another profession." Comedy Central also no doubt appreciated Eastwood's odd remarks. Clips of Jon Stewart's and Steven Colbert's sometimes hilarious comments about Eastwood's performance turned up on dozens of websites. And the liberal website TruthDig reported on Sunday that a petition campaign has begun to get Betty White to introduce President Obama at the Democratic National Convention this week.
